Both major injuries resulted in having patellar tendon realignment surgeries on both knees that caused him to miss two seasons of football and one baseball season. Dr. Thomas Gill — orthopedic surgeon for many Red Sox, Patriot, and Bruins players — performed both procedures at Mass General Hospital in Boston.
